Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2, 2026 · Effective: June 15, 2026

Circle is a children's media platform. We take your family's privacy seriously — especially your children's. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We've written it in plain language on purpose.

Who we are

Circle is operated by Circle LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. Our platform is available at circletv.co. You can reach us at hello@circletv.co.

What we collect

From parents (account holders):

  • Name, email address, and password when you create an account
  • Username you choose during signup
  • Billing information processed securely by our payment provider (Helcim). We do not store your full card number.
  • Subscription and payment history

From children's profiles:

  • Child's first name and age (entered by parent)
  • Avatar selection (emoji and color — chosen by parent)
  • Daily screen time limit (set by parent)
  • A hashed PIN (we store a one-way encrypted version — the actual PIN is never stored)
  • Watch history: which videos were watched, when, and for how long

Automatically collected:

  • Device type and browser (for compatibility)
  • IP address (for security and fraud prevention)
  • Session cookies necessary for authentication

We do not collect precise geolocation, behavioral advertising data, or biometric information. We do not use tracking pixels or third-party advertising SDKs.

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your family account
  • To process subscription payments to creators
  • To display watch history and screen time data to parents
  • To enforce daily screen time limits for children
  • To authenticate children via PIN on their devices
  • To send you transactional emails (receipts, account notices)
  • To improve our platform and fix issues

We do not use your data to serve ads, build advertising profiles, or sell your information to third parties. Ever.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Circle is designed for families with children. We take special care with children's data in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

  • Children do not create their own accounts. All child profiles are created and controlled by a parent or guardian.
  • We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service.
  • We do not direct advertising to children.
  • We do not share children's information with third parties except as necessary to deliver the service (e.g., video hosting via Mux).
  • Parents can review, update, or delete their child's profile at any time from the dashboard.
  • To request deletion of all data associated with a child, email us at hello@circletv.co.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate Circle:

  • Supabase — secure database and authentication infrastructure
  • Mux — video hosting and delivery
  • Helcim — payment processing (PCI-compliant)
  • Vercel — web hosting and deployment

Each provider is bound by data processing agreements. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.

Data retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active
  • Watch history is retained for 12 months and then automatically deleted
  • Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by law
  • If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and your children
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time by closing your account

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@circletv.co. We will respond within 30 days.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
  • Hashed and salted passwords and PINs — plaintext is never stored
  • Row-level security on our database so each user can only access their own data
  • Regular security reviews of our infrastructure

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@circletv.co.

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary to operate the platform:

  • Authentication cookies to keep parents logged in
  • Child session cookies (8-hour expiry) to maintain the child's active profile

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that share data externally.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Circle after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
